Donations needed for the MAD Kitchen

£2,000 will refurbish MAD's kitchen, a lifeline for hundreds of children

After 15 years providing MADmeals for MADkids our kitchen is exhausted. For many children the meal they have at MAD is a lifeline and without it they would go to bed hungry. Hunger is still reality in communities around MAD and many children won’t find food on the table at home. Our kitchen is the lifeblood of MAD and your gift will contribute to the health and wellbeing of children at MAD in a direct and tangible way

Beaty’s mother Winnie saw children scavenging the local dump for scraps. Her daily act of kindness providing a cup of soup and some bread saved many children from chronic sickness and poor health. Thankfully the days of children scavenging at the community dump are long gone but for many children hunger is still a daily reality. Tasty nutritious meals at MAD make all the difference for growing children. A steaming bowl of soup, a rice biryani, a curry, whatever the dish it’s always home cooked using fresh seasonal ingredients and often using produce grown by the children in MAD’s veggie garden

A hygienic, well-equipped cooking environment is essential to safeguard the children’s health of course. In our kitchen today cupboards are rusting, the microwave is long gone, the plastic sink is warping badly, walls need tiling and a lick of paint. Your gift will contribute towards a £2,000 project to re-fit the kitchen with floor units, a stainless steel sink, new worktopd, a gas hotplate, pots and pans and basic cooking equipment. The funds will also be used to replace bowls, mugs and spoons for the children which were stolen during a break-in recently

You’ll receive regular updates and photos of how your gift is making a difference to the lives of children
