Entrepreneurship as a route to independence and opportunity for local youth
MAD young entrepreneurs work together to raise funds to fight HIV and inspire children to make positive life choices
Their social impact project invites visitors to step off the beaten track to see how children at MAD are fighting HIV and tackling social and economic challenges in their community
As the project grows, so does benefit to the community, providing opportunity for local youth to train as guides and work together to build the programme
MAD young entrepreneurs gain skills and confidence interacting with visitors of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. Interactions that build business skills and life connections, challenge preconceptions and ultimately break down stereotypes for locals and visitors alike
In the gallery at MADaboutART visitors see narrative artworks that tell stories of lives living positively with HIV as well as art by children that share inner thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams. Inspirational stories of hope and resilience that forge understanding and create human connection

Growing food and learning about health and nutrition promotes self-sufficiency and inspires children to make positive healthy choices that will benefit their physical and mental health for the rest of their lives
The garden at MAD is part of a network of MAD food gardens across the community which provide food and income for those in need
In our kitchen, older children learn new skills transforming the harvest into healthy, nutritious meals that make all the difference for growing children
