ART TELLS A STORY, CHALLENGES OPINION, BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER
MADaboutART was founded in 2001 in response to the growing number of people with HIV and dying with AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa
STIGMA WAS EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS NO TREATMENT. MILLIONS WERE DYING
At MADaboutART in South Africa a very special group of children in South Africa came together to teach the world about HIV through art. Their RAINBOW OF HOPE got thousands of people around the world talking and thinking differently about HIV.
RAINBOW OF HOPE
SUPPORTING, LIFTING, HOLDING, REACHING OUT AND LINKING
MAD IN ACTION
MADaboutART was pioneered in South Africa. Our award-winning curriculum for children and youth uses art as the platform to ignite imagination, have fun and achieve social change, changing lives by reducing the impact of HIV and providing skills and opportunity
Many young people living in poverty around the world experience anger and low self-esteem; becoming trapped in a spiral of vulnerability that destroys hope. MADaboutART offers a safe, fun learning environment that heals trauma, inspires positive life choices and celebrates diversity. Our soup kitchen makes sure no child goes to bed hungry. Independent evaluation showed a significant positive impact on well-being. For kids this means feeling good about themselves, having hope for the future and feeling loved
